crew mess, the dining and recreation area on the ship, to bring
newspapers from the seafarer's local countries, football DVDs, and
phone/ internet cards so that the seafarers can contact their families.
After that is all finish I will stay onboard and talk to the crew members
who are off duty. These conversations can range from sports to world
politics to family and sometimes even how I can help them with a
problem they are having with the company they work for. Eventually I
will leave the ship and sometimes we can bring seafarers to shore so
that they can do some sightseeing and shopping in Hong Kong, if they
are given the opportunity by their shipping company. This is very
