situations are handled quickly and anonymously, to the best of our
ability, so that the seafarer is taken care of. Back in February I was
visiting a ship when a young Filipino man (about twenty years old) came
me with a problem. Every time I saw him he was working in the kitchen
and thought nothing of it because usually the cooks like to talk the
most. The ship had been in the dry docks in Hong Kong for six months
and it was time for many of the crew to sign off and go home. Due to
the visa restrictions of the new crew however the company was trying
